Humane Society Calendar Ad

For the Humane Society poster, I had to be selective with the months I chose so that the number of weeks would create a consistent calendar design throughout all three months. I themed each month, so February was wintery and the following months related to holidays and the weather. I decided to center the picture for each month above the calendar and place the ads/fun fact to the sides, so the picture would be the first thing the reader sees. Once I had the skeletal outline of one month, I duplicated the spread so all three months would have the same layout. To create a cohesive design on each calendar, I used the eye dropper tool to take colors from the picture. This way, the background colors would not distract and clash with the focal point of the spread. I made the outline of the pictures a color that was present in the picture, and contrasted well with the other colors. I tried to find cute pictures (to make the animals look more adopt-able) and included coupons that a pet owner would find valuable. I was meticulous with the alignment, making sure that all of the boxes lined up symmetrically with each other. For my fun facts, I made each relevant to the animal in each month and used the eye dropper again to create good contrast and cohesion with the rest of the calendar. Finally, I created borders with a stroke of 3 point so the ads and pictures would remain visible in the foreground of the picture.
